Creation hosts first Pinot Noir workshop

Winemakers and other wine industry representatives attended the first Pinot Noir Workshop on Tuesday 2 June 2015, held in the Tasting Room at Creation situated in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge.

The workshop commenced with an overview of Pinot Noir production in South Africa after which an open discussion was held to determine the demand for and viability of establishing a more formalised Pinot Noir Interest Group.

Pinot Noir is rapidly gaining market share and Pinot Noir plantings have increased steadily over the preceding years, making it a necessity for Pinot Noir producers to share knowledge and technology to ensure that quality and consistency are maintained. The successful discussion ended with a blind tasting of a number of local and international Pinot Noir wines as a benchmarking exercise for different styles and techniques of Pinot Noir production.
