David Beckham backs out of restaurant venture with Gordon Ramsay

David Beckham has pulled out of Gordon Ramsay’s new restaurant venture.

The professional soccer player and famous chef revealed in February that they wanted to open a London eatery together but David has reportedly now called off the deal.

Union Street Café will still open next week but 38-year-old David will no longer be involved.

“They may be best friends, but they are also very astute businessmen and both wanted different things,’ a source told The Daily Mirror.

“Becks was ready to make an investment and had visited the site. But they both talked long and hard and have decided not to work together on this occasion.”

David and wife Victoria are good friends with the 46-year-old food expert and his partner Tana, 37.

Gordon had said this month that the Mediterranean-themed restaurant, which opens September 16, has had an “amazing” response already as 2,500 diners made reservations in the first four hours after they started taking bookings.

However he didn’t mention his sportsman pal backing out two weeks ago.

“It would have been great to have both on board but I am sure there will be opportunities in the future to work together,” an insider shared.
