De Grendel is thrilled to announce that its beloved De Grendel Koetshuis Sauvignon Blanc 2017 is now available for purchase! It is available at R150 per bottle or R135 for De Grendel Loyalty Club members.

The crisp, grassy De Grendel Koetshuis Sauvignon Blanc was so named because the grapes used to make this wine are grown in the vineyard that sprawls out right next to the old coach house (‘koetshuis’ in Afrikaans) where the wagons of days gone by were once kept.

The Koetshuis Sauvignon Blanc grapes are handled differently in the vineyards as well as in the cellar to ensure a bigger and a bolder wine. It is picked riper, receives longer skin contact, longer cold settling as well as extended lees contact after fermentation with batonage on more frequent intervals.

The result is a wine that is stylistically different to our De Grendel Sauvignon Blanc in the sense that the wine leans more towards a fuller and richer style, with intense hints of minerality, gooseberries and green pepper on the nose and palate. Supported by a fresh acidity this wine is a full bodied white wine with a strong and long finish.
