De Krans Free Run Chenin Blanc: A Summer Celebration

With Summer in full bloom the De Krans Free Run Chenin Blanc 2019 is the perfect celebration of the warmer days and Summer-inspired food. This wine is packed with tropical fruit flavours as a result of using only the free run juice (the first batch of juice before the grapes are pressed), The fruit character gives the wine a full mouthfeel and has a fresh, balanced acidity. The wine is light enough to drink on its own while also pairing well with fish or chicken dishes, salads or pastas.

The accessibility of the palate of this unwooded Chenin Blanc together with the great value for money makes this a favourite every day drinking white. Not only is this an easy drinking wine, but it was also recently awarded a Gold Medal at the 2019 Gold Wine Awards. The wine forms part of De Krans’s Classic Varietal range, which also includes a Wild Ferment Chardonnay, Pinotage Rosé and Basket Press Cabernet Sauvignon. These boutique-style wines are known for their distinctive winemaking techniques (hence the descriptive names), the balance between complex character and their “easy drinkable” character.

While De Krans Wines is traditionally known for their port-style wines, they also boast with their Terroir range including a unique range of dry red wines made of Portuguese cultivars like their award-winning Tritonia Red (Calitzdorp Blend), which recently won best red blend at the old mutual Trophy awards.

The De Krans Free Run Chenin Blanc 2019 is available from most retail outlets nationwide at approximately R67 per bottle
