De Krans victorious at CAPPA and Young Wine Show

August has without a doubt been a great month for De Krans in the competition front, seeing the Calitzdorp based producer receiving top awards at two recent industry events.

The De Krans Cape Vintage Reserve 2015 and 2016 port-style wines were named as one of the Top 10 Cape Port Style winners at this year’s Cape Port Producers Association (CAPPA) Port & Wine Challenge. The De Krans Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2007 was one of three winners to be recognised in the Museum Class category, whilst the De Krans Tritonia Calitzdorp Blend 2016 and De Krans Touriga Nacional 2016 each secured a spot on the list for the Top 10 Cape Portuguese Wines.

Continuing their winning streak, De Krans reclaimed its title as Champion Private Cellar in the Little Karoo at this year’s Klein Karoo Young Wine Show. De Krans was without a doubt victorious at this competition earning Best in Class in the relevant categories for its Viognier, Cape Vintage Port, Cape Ruby, Cape Tawny and then vintage ports. The passion and dedication winemaker, Louis van der Riet and his team put in to produce South Africa’s leading ports paid off as the cherry on the cake was being honoured with four gold medals at the 2018 National Young Wine Show. In addition, De Krans was also awarded Overall Champion Wine (Cape Vintage Reserve 2018), Champion in the Non-Muscat Fortified Wine category, Reserve Champion in the Red Wine category, as well as Reserve Champion in the White Wine category, at the 2018 Klein Karoo Young Wine Show.
