The historic Uitkyk estate close to Stellenbosch has two exciting new pairings on offer.

For only R60 per person, visitors can enjoy a “Cat and Mouse” pairing in which a range of delicious savoury pancakes are matched with wines from the estate. The name of this offering is derived from the popular local legend of a cat staying on at Uitkyk’s manor house long after the original owners had moved on. The cat is a playful, tongue-in-cheek element meant to signal a relaxed approach to wine enjoyment. The pairings include Flat Roof Manor Pinot Grigio with a spicy Thai green-curry pancake; Uitkyk Chardonnay with a slow-roasted pumpkin and brie pancake; Flat Room Manor Merlot with a roast chicken, camembert and sage pancake; Flat Roof Manor Shiraz Mourvèdre Viognier with a roast beef, baby spinach and cranberry jelly pancake; and finally, Uitkyk Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz paired with a pancake stuffed with sautéed onions, mushrooms and Edam cheese.

Those who have a weak spot for the sweeter things in life will be tempted to try Uitkyk’s award-winning 10-year-old potstill brandy with a selection of top-quality Belgian chocolates and a slice of mouth-watering fruitcake. The chocolates, sourced from Huguenot Fine Chocolates of Franschhoek, include a vanilla truffle, citrus marzipan, brandy truffle, and a praline milk truffle. This pairing is offered at R40 per head.

The “Cat and Mouse” pairing is only available on Wednesdays and Fridays and must be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance. A minimum of four guests is required to secure a booking for this offering.
