Diddy expanding alcohol empire with DeLeón tequila

Sean “Diddy” Combs is entering the tequila market in a new partnership with high-end DeLeón Tequila, which was founded by Brent Hocking in 2008 and entered the U.S. market on May 5, 2009 and became an award-winning brand.

Voted 2013’s Hip-Hop Cash King by Forbes, Diddy celebrated the deal with a extravagant New Year’s Eve party at his mansion on Miami’s Star Island, according to New York Post’s Page Six. His new tequila, which was served at the party, ranges in price from $140 to $825 per bottle and is made of 100 percent pure agave tequila, which comes from the purest water sources in Mexico. It has been awarded the Grand Champion award several times.

According to its website, DeLeón “is certifiably the purest tequila on record as documented by the Tequila Regulatory Council or CRT based on superior alcohol and methanol levels.”

Combs began his alcohol empire when he partnered with Diageo-owned Ciroc Vodka in 2007, which has become a $100 million franchise thanks to his position and influence. The mogul also is behind Sean John clothing, Revolt TV and Bad Boy Records.
