Durbanville Hills named top restaurant in the Winelands

The Durbanville Hills Restaurant was named as the Best Restaurant in the Winelands in the 2015 Restaurant Week South Africa Awards held from 22 October until 1 November.

In addition the restaurant hosted the highest number of diners in this national competition and was reviewed by the largest number of guests post their dining experience.

The competition offered diners in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape and the Winelands the opportunity to enjoy a specially prepared two course menu created by each of the 100 participating restaurants. Unlike other competitions, the winning restaurants were determined by consumers rating their overall experience and awards were not announced based on the opinion of a jury.

Chef Louisa Greeff chose dishes from her existing restaurant menu for the competition to ensure that guests experienced the true essence of dining at Durbanville Hills which encapsulates wholesome food with a fresh and modern twist. Her menu included a starter choice between the baby beetroot salad served with quail eggs, almonds, and mustard dressing; and the pickled Patagonian Calamari salad topped with a pineapple, chilli, lime, mint and coriander dressing. For mains guests could choose from the Moroccan spiced chicken served with herbed couscous, the ever popular rustic spinach and ricotta pie or a line fish fillet served in garlic and chilli with potato wedges and vegetables. The meal included a glass of Durbanville Hills Sauvignon Blanc.
