Entries open for the Absa Top 10 Pinotage competition

“We are thrilled to announce that it is ‘business as usual’ for this year’s Absa Top 10 Pinotage competition and that entries are now open.” These are the words of Beyers Truter, founder and chairman of the Pinotage Association, brimming with enthusiasm at the thought of the 24th edition of this competition.

An Absa Top 10 Pinotage award is one of the most prestigious annual South African wine accolades and this year will be no exception. The competition celebrates this eponymous grape varietal as one of South Africa’s signature wines – a true success story with a fascinating history. With the ongoing support of key sponsor, Absa, the competition has not only seen an immensely positive impact on the quality of this unique wine category, but also everyone associated with it.

The sky is the limit when it comes to Pinotage wine quality, bearing testimony to winemakers embracing their terroir which ultimately enables them to make iconic wines that shine on the international stage.
Entries are also open for the Pinotage Icon category (Museum class), for Pinotage wines 10 years and older. Truter is sure that the older Pinotage category is set to become one of the most exciting wine categories and welcomes the entries that will be received this year. The judging and awards ceremony dates will be announced at a later stage. For more information about the awards or to enter the competition, please visit: https://bit.ly/2Ukr2oE
