Erika`s timeless wine a three-time Platter`s laureate

Erika Obermeyer, Stellenbosch Cellar Master at Graham Beck Wines regards the Pheasants’ Run as her “Marilyn Monroe”; a timeless, classic work, and it seems that the Platter’s team agrees. This year marked the third successive rating of five stars in the authoritative guide for the Sauvignon Blanc that holds pole position in Erika’s vinous affections.

The success of the wine has its underpinnings in Erika’s mental database of vineyard pockets, aromas and blending possibilities. The Firgrove and Groenekloof vineyards from which the grapes derive produce both flavour intensity and brisk acidity; owing in part to their proximity to the sea.

Extended contact with the skin and five months on the lees contribute great complexity to the elegant, fruit rich profile for which the wine is famed. Although it drinks well immediately, the wine can be cellared for up to five years.

Pheasant’s Run Sauvignon Blanc 2012 retails for R150 at the cellar door and at fine wine stores. Member-only offers are available via the Graham Beck Wines Signature Wine Club.
