If you’re looking for something fun and cultural to do during the week, then you should diarize 2 August and head on over to the East City for First Thursdays. 

What began in 2012 with only six participating art galleries has expanded into one of the biggest cultural events in Cape Town, with the first Thursday of every month seeing thousands of locals and tourists venturing between art galleries, exhibitions, speciality shops and craft markets in the heart of the city.

This week the East City will be abuzz with many noteworthy art exhibitions, live music and fine food offerings.

Experience Cape Town’s trendy social hub in its essence. Head on over to Harrington Street, Buitenkant and surroundings this First Thursdays.

The food

This Thursday, Harringtons will be open from 12 pm. Order a flatbread for lunch or work your way through the tapas menu. Take advantage of the special between 5 and 8 pm, by ordering any 4 tapas for R200.

The drinks

Harry’s Happy Hour will run from 5 pm – 7 pm with classic cocktails, bubbly, Standard Brewing Co. Lager and Pilsner available at half price!

The Band

This First Thursday at #EasyCitySessions Harringtons is hosting Grassy Spark. Their music is a unique fusion of Ska-blend with multiple genres, where the end product is pure elation. Their beauty lies in the relevance and authenticity of each live show as they go out of their way to appease and connect with their crowd.

The band will be kicking our eve off from 21:00, followed by our resident DJ’s who will get the party warmed up slowly before kicking it into full gear.

Come and enjoy something refreshing, snack on some incredible tapas and listen to the coolest jazz & funk cats in town.

Tribe is kicking off again on the 2nd of August, with French Techno powerhouse and Neverending Records label owner, Citizen Kain.

Tribe aims to encourage a space of freedom. Freedom to dance, experience and express. Built on a solid foundation of love for the scene, Tribe offers an immersive four to the floor experience right in the heart of the mother city.

Citizen Kain has cemented himself as a tastemaker globally in the techno community. He refines the themes used in his music, by harboring the most essential elements of his sound, to reveal its true power. Sharing stages with Solomun, Tale Of Us, Maceo Plex, Carl Cox and Joseph Capriati to name a few, It is clear that Citizen Kain has earned his place in the techno scene, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join our Tribe, this coming First Thursday!

Hope On Hopkins Gin & Tonic Tasting.

In the tasting session, Hope on Hopkins will explain a bit about the distilling process, the history of gin and what makes gin “gin” and will then guide you through a curated tasting of 3 different styles of gin & tonics, explaining what makes each of them different in terms of botanicals and flavour profile.

Tickets are free but seats are limited to 20 people. Bookings only.
