Fashion meets Wine at De Grendel

Everyone has their own style, just like everyone has their own palate. It’s fashionable to drink wine, especially with the right outfit!

Fashion designer Jenny le Roux from Habits and winemaker Elzette du Preez from De Grendel decided to combine their talents at a recent event at the estate. Together they’ve selected 5 wines from the De Grendel range and carefully matched them with the perfect outfit from Habits.

De Grendel Koetshuis Sauvignon Blanc

koetshuis_habits

This crisp yet bold Sauvignon Blanc is named after the old coach house on the farm where the wagons of days gone by were once kept. The wine is a perfect match for this Emperor Satin Caroline Skirt worn with a crisp White Shirt. Both are pretty dramatic.

De Grendel Noble Late Harvest 2015

Sweet yet sensational. The noble late harvest is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The wine’s silky smooth palate is a perfect match for this soft and flowy chiffon dress.

De Grendel Sauvignon Blanc 2015

This Sauvignon Blanc is more tropical and fruit-driven than the Koetshuis. It’s made from grapes grown in a vineyard which benefits from the cooling effect of gentle maritime breezes.  The white dress shouts summer!

De Grendel Methode Cape Classique

This elegant and fizzy MCC needs a bold dress to make a statement.

De Grendel Rosé

The distinctive and beautiful salmon-hued colour of the wine matches the colour of the dress and jacket set perfectly.

De Grendel Rubaiyat

The Rubaiyat was named after the classic collection of 1000 Persian love poems from the 10th century, written by Omar Khayyam, held dear by the late Sir David. Each vintage boasts a different quatrain from the poem on the label. This ravishing ruby-red dress is as seductive as the wine.

The next time you visit De Grendel in Durbanville be sure to match your outfit with their wines!
