Fleur du Cap wine and salt pairings at Die Bergkelder

Discover a unique new Fleur du Cap wine tasting experience, pairing wines with artisanal, salted delicacies offered daily at Die Bergkelder where handmade morsels meld seamlessly with hands-off, naturally crafted wines.

With close affinity to their natural surroundings, Fleur du Cap wines lend themselves perfectly to pairings with nature’s gifts of unrefined salts. Using locally sourced savoury treats, prepared using traditional methods such as curing with salt, the new Fleur du Cap tasting experience accentuates the inherent flavours of each superbly balanced wine.

Salt and Wine Pairing

Served on salt blocks, the daily savoury parings on offer at Die Bergkelder include five Fleur du Cap wines. The refreshing Unfiltered Sauvignon Blanc is partnered with sulphuric salt and dolmades made with wild rice, followed by the Unfiltered Chardonnay paired with rich green olive pesto and Black Lava Salt from the lava pools of Hawaii. The robust Unfiltered Merlot creates a sublime pairing with flavoursome prosciutto or chicken liver pâté with caramelised Onions and Murray River salt, whilst the elegant Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon is paired with full flavoured sun dried tomatoes and six month matured Gouda cheese and Khoisan salt. To round off this unique tasting experience, the Platter 5-Star Fleur du Cap Noble Late Harvest paired with delicious Maldon salted fudge, will have your taste buds wanting for more.
