Franschhoek to showcase at this year’s SAADA Expo

Regarded as one of South Africa’s leading wine producing regions and premier culinary destination Franschhoek is also home to some of our country’s finest artists.

This year internationally acclaimed potter, David Walters, together with The Old Corkscrew, Holden Manz and Ebony, will be exhibiting at the annual The South African Antiques Art and Design Association (SAADA) Expo, which takes place from 13 to 15 February at The Lookout (V&A Waterfront). The association, now in its 50th, promotes selling South African antiques. Having undergone a bit of a rebranding the association has repositioned itself to include a somewhat younger, hipper and more culturally diverse market with the same exacting standards.

The public will be able to enjoy a diverse range of objects including Art – Contemporary and Classical, Antiques and Modern Design, Silver, Jewellery, Coins, Books, Carpets, Oriental Collectables and potters. Select Franschhoek Vignerons will be showcasing their wines at the expo, allowing you the opportunity to sample superb wines whilst admiring the beautiful artwork on display.

Tickets for the expo, cost R60 per person (R40 per person for scholars/pensioners), and are available at the door, or online via www.saada.co.za.

Should you miss out on this event be sure to visit Franschhoek on 24 October for Franschhoek Art in Clay, an accredited Cape Town World Design Capital event, where you’ll have the opportunity to view exquisite works by the local artists.

Make the most of your visit turning it into a memorable experience as Franschhoek has so much to offer, with the key focus being on food, wine, art, literature and adventure.
