French Wines and Spirits Rendez-vous in South Africa!

Following a successful 2013’s edition, new tastings and presentations of various French wines and spirits will be dedicated to professionals of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. These tastings will take place in 2014 on the 8th of July at the Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg and the 9th of July at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel in Cape Town. A unique opportunity for professionals to discover and rediscover the diversity of French wines in renowned hotels.

Organized by UBIFRANCE – The French Trade Commission, the operation aims at facilitating new partnerships between French businesses and local professionals in the sector. For 5 years now, the market has seen a steady increase of consumption of French wines. The South African consumer desires to discover new French wines of a high quality and this event is one of the unique windows of opportunity.

Last year, the first edition of the “French Wines and Spirits Rendezvous in South Africa” was a true success. All the South Africans and French companies were really delighted to establish new partnerships around the products. The UBIFRANCE team in Johannesburg has decided to work on the 2014’s organization since the end of the last edition. For the very first time this year, Mozambican, Namibian, Botswana and Zimbabwean importers and distributors have been invited. Moreover, in order to provide a better service, Master Classes will be held by French wine makers to share their knowledge.

More than 10 enthusiastic French companies will introduce the diversity of their products to South Africa during two afternoons of tastings in prestigious locations. They are coming from the wine regions of Burgundy, Bordeaux, South West France (in French Sud-Ouest), Rhône, Loire, Champagne, Cognac, etc.

The first professional wine tasting will be in JOHANNESBURG, Tuesday, the 8th of July, at the famous Saxon Hotel. The session will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the French knowhow of hospitality and the attention to details about wines and spirits tasting. Master Classes by 4 wine makers will be as well organized to bring very specific and personal explanations about their products.

Wednesday, the 9th May 2014, the French delegation will fly to CAPE TOWN to meet the South African professionals based in the Mother City. As for the afternoon, it will highlight French wines and spirits through a tasting session which will take place at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel, from 1pm to 6pm. Master Classes will be also organized for this venue.
