Get A Taste Of The Garden Route And Klein Karoo At The 14th Knysna Wine Festival

This year’s 14th Knysna Wine Festival will not only showcase quality South African wines but local produce as well, sharing a Taste of the Garden Route with the world.

This Festival, 28 – 29 June at its new venue, The Premier Resort – The Knysna Mooring, will offer quaffers the opportunity to discover wines and produce from the Garden Route and Klein Karoo, creating awareness of the area’s wonderful local wineries and artisans.

Under the umbrella of Plettenberg Bay Winelands, the Knysna Wine Festival welcomes Packwood Country Estate, Newstead Lund Family Vineyards, Kay & Monty Vineyards, Bramon Wine Estate, Bitou Vineyards and Lodestone Wines and Olives.

Thanks to Garden Route’s cooler climate, mountainous backdrop and coastal setting that ensures a cool ocean breeze to many vineyards and valleys, The Garden Route manages to produce unique and stunning wines, sparkling wines and MCCs.

From the Little Karoo and Mossel Bay, Jakkalsvlei Vineyards, Peter Bayly Wines and Joubert – Tradauw will also be present representing the locals.

Local Gin is Lekker; the fashion for premium gin, has attracted vintners, many of whom have increased their portfolio to include craft gin.

Regional gins are fast becoming common practice with Knysna enjoying 2 different gin brands, The Knysna Distillery and Phantom Craft Gin, will both be on show at the 14th Knysna Wine Festival, . From the Klein Karoo, Black Mountain Gin will be showing off their classic dry style gin.

Mindful that the Knysna Wine Festival is to be held during the Knysna Forest Marathon weekend, the organisers have ensured the availability of Craft Beers for the runners. The Garden Route’s craft beers will be represented by Greater Knysna’s, Sedgefield Craft Beer.

Knysna Wine Festival invite imbibers to visit the beautiful Greater Knysna to enjoy and experience The 10 best Days of Winter the Garden Route has to offer, while tasting local and regional wineries and distilleries. Embrace the opportunity to interact with local and high profile producers, taste their latest releases and learn the art behind wine making during the Knysna Wine festival.

Tapa’s meals and Oysters will be available for sale during the Festival.

Tickets cost R150 each (incl a tasting glass) and are available online at Webtickets www.webtickets.co.za or from the Knysna and Sedgefield Tourism offices.
