Getting Cozy at The Residence at Haskell

As winter arrives in Cape Town, we decided it’s time to escape to the winelands and get cosy with a stay at The Residence at Haskell.

Located in the heart of the Golden Triangle wine growing area of Stellenbosch, The Residence is a peaceful retreat, set in its own gardens and surrounded by the Helderberg mountain range and the vines on the Haskell Vineyards estate.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom country house sleeps four and is equipped with all amenities needed for a good time. It’s the perfect spot for couples looking for a tranquil place to spend time, to read, drink wine, hike, and take in the breathtaking views.

Featuring comfortable chairs and a massive wood-burning fireplace, there’s plenty of room to curl up with a glass of wine or a good book on a cold night in the large open-plan living and dining room area.

Now no weekend getaway is complete without a traditional braai under the African stars. With plenty of complimentary firewood at your disposal, throwing a skaap tjoppie on the outside braai is compulsory!

After a couple of bottles of Haskell’s finest, it was time to call it a night and hit the hay. The luxuries linens, rain showers, bathtubs and doors spilling out onto a magnificent terrace, delivering views of vine-strewn hills is truly what dreams are made off…

The main attraction at Haskell Vineyards is of cause the wines. For a perfect late afternoon in winter, order the cheese plate replete with local produce and sip through a flight of fine wines on the patio as the sun sets over the valley illuminating its depths with a fiery glow.

Hungry tummies can tuck into The Longtable Restaurant menu, which boasts a selection of dishes that encourage guests to share and compare. During the colder months, the restaurant runs a variety of specials.

The Residence at Haskell perfectly integrates the comforts of contemporary living with the tranquil nature of the countryside. Regardless of the season, this backdrop is bound to soothe the soul.
