Gin all the rage at this year’s Knysna Wine Festival

On the evenings of Friday 28 and Saturday 29 June the Knysna Wine Festival took place at The Premier Resort – The Moorings in Knysna to an enthusiastic group of international tourists, athletes and locals alike.

The event was warmly welcomed especially on Saturday evening as it marked the end of a successful Knysna Forest Marathon and athletes were keen to relax their tired muscles with local wine, craft gin and oysters!

Festival organisers Belinda Hobson and Michael Simon: “Thank-you to all our producers and to the locals and visitors that attended the festival. It was a huge success! A big thank-you to our main sponsor Lexus Halfway George and our venue The Premier Resort – The Moorings Knysna. Plans are already underway for 2020 with some exciting new ideas!”

Gin was all the rage at the festival this year with five local gins on offer; Phantom Gin, The Knysna Distillery, Blackmountain Gin, Cape Town Gin and Wilderer Gin. Fitch & Leedes were the official tonic sponsor for the festival ensuring premium mixers to pair with the array of gins to taste.

Chantal Bruwer from Phantom Gin: “The festival was incredible. A fantastic venue with passionate producers and enthusiastic guests all culminated into a truly festive vibe. A big thank-you to Fitch & Leedes for sponsoring our premium mixers. We look forward to next year.”

The Knysna Wine Festival now celebrated its 14th year and has certainly become a highlight on the Winter holiday calendar for locals and tourists alike.

Official photographer Elle Redman: “The festival was most enjoyable to photograph! All evening the quote from Andre Simon came to mind: “Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, every day more civilized.”
