Summer’s here! Perfect for venturing out into the winelands, sipping superb wines, taking in the amazing views and just having fun. Hartenberg Wine Estate, situated in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands offers all of this and more.

Perfect for the whole family a day out to Hartenberg is a must on your to do list this summer. Whilst the adults relax under the trees cooled by the summer breezes the kids will be kept entertained for hours in the play area or alongside the river banks. Choose a table under the trees or lounge on plump cushions on the lawn with a beautifully packed picnic basket. All ingredients are locally sourced, free-range and complemented by home baked breads. R175 per person, which includes a bottle of estate wine to share between two. This season the picnic basket includes the popular Eleanor’s Snoek pâté, caramelised onion dip as well as a selection of the finest local cheeses and charcuterie with unique accompaniments such as an apple and beetroot chutney. Tuck into a delicious rolled stuffed Pork leg or Panko crumbed chicken pops. Complement the meal with a choice of two salads – Quinoa brown rice and roasted vegetables or charred corn, cucumber and tomatoes. The perfect ending to any picnic is something sweet, and the Sea Salt fudge will do just that!

If you prefer a more formal dining experience Hartenberg’s summer inspired menu is perfect. Carefully thought through and designed to complement the Hartenberg wines patrons can look forward to a range of tasty offerings. This includes a fish plate comprising a selection of smoked fish and peppered Mackerel served with the estate’s world-famous Snoek pâté, pickled onions and fresh farm bread. Sure to become a favourite on the menu is the introduction of our Alchemy Home Cooked Burger, as created by winner Braam Beyers. A succulent beef burger patty, served with all of the traditional trimmings on a freshly baked Brioche bun. Pairs beautifully with the Alchemy Chenin Blanc Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.

And for those with a sweet tooth be sure not to miss out on the most heavenly and decadent honey Semi Freddo or Vanilla baked cheesecake.
