Gold for De Krans at Michelangelo

Continuing with its winning streak for 2016 De Krans Wine Cellar, situated in Calitzdorp, was awarded two Gold Medals at this year’s Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.

The awards were announced on 26 September.The prestigious Gold Medals were awarded to the De Krans Touriga Naçional 2014 and De Krans Free Run Chenin Blanc 2016.

The internationally recognized competition gives local wines the opportunity of being judged by an international panel of wine experts. International judges are hand-picked and serve on the panel by invitation only, making it one of South Africa’s most prestigious annual wine competitions.

Regarded as one of the premier port producers in South Africa De Krans is also home to a range of superb Value for Money wines, one of these being the Free Run Chenin Blanc. A wine of Origin of Calitzdorp winemaker Louis van der Riet adopts a hands-on approach from the grape to glass, resulting in the perfect wine for all year enjoyment. He describes the Chenin Blanc as displaying aromas of ripe tropical fruits with a hint of lime and flintiness. A fresh fruity wine with a well-rounded smooth structure and lingering aftertaste.
