Home is where the Art is

Creation, proud home of the highly acclaimed Art of Chardonnay and Art of Pinot Noir wine portfolio, has been supporting the Hermanus FynArts festival since 2011. This year FynArts takes place from 8 to 17 June and the estate will be showcasing the sculptures of Gordon Froud. The accomplished artist has been actively involved in both the South African and the international art world for the past 30 years.

Last year’s FynArts saw Creation exhibiting an installation of sculptures by the gifted South African artist, Willie Botha. These included among others his beautiful ‘Fish Eagle’ which until recently took pride of place at the entrance to the Tasting Room. Many thanks to Willie who entrusted us with his exquisite sculptures this past year.

Commenting on FynArts, Creation marketing director Carolyn Martin says that the estate has been an avid supporter of the arts and especially of local artists since the estate was founded. “Winemaking is of course an art in itself and to celebrate this we launched The Art of Creation wine range in 2013.”

Comprising a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir, the single-vineyard, single-site ‘Art’ range has since won accolade upon accolade. Among the latest are scores of 95 for the 2017 Creation Art of Chardonnay (barrel sampled) allocated by the authoritative Greg Sherwood MW and the 2016 Creation Art of Pinot noir receiving a Decanter Gold medal and 5 star Platter.

To coincide with FynArts the sought-after Story of Creation menu will be changing from a harvest to a winter theme with the title ‘Artisanal: When Craft becomes Art’. “Our inspired culinary team has already started planning and we look forward to inviting our guests to join in a celebration of pairing wine, food and art at Creation,” says an enthusiastic Carolyn.
