How to make Aloe Water

Known as the “plant of immortality,” the aloe vera cactus plant offers benefits the skin, hair, health and body due to its high levels of amino acids, minerals and vitamins.

Taken internally or incorporated into a smoothie, juice or food, aloe can ease a whole host of undesirable ailments. Reducing cholesterol, promoting digestive health with its anti-inflammatory properties, and even fighting bad breath are reasons to give this plant a try. It’s also super hydrating since the gel consists of 99% water.

Aloe vera juice is also much easier to make at home compared to other popular health drinks. All you need is a blender!

Ingredients

  • aloe vera plant (or edible aloe vera gel – sold at health food stores)
  • water

Instructions

  1. Cut off a leaf from your plant and slice it down the middle to create 2 halves.
  2. Scoop out the clear gel with a spoon, being careful to avoid the yellow portion just below the rind.
  3. Add about 2 tablespoons of aloe gel into your blender, along with 1 cup of water, and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

If you don’t like the flavour of aloe water, you can add in some fresh citrus juice, such as orange or grapefruit.

Health experts recommend drinking 1/2 a cup of aloe vera juice daily.
