How To Make Hunters Dry Cider At Home

Fans of the popular South African cider Hunter’s Dry will be happy to know that a “recipe for the needy” has been doing the rounds on social media since lockdown was announced on 26 March 2020.

The sale of some non-essential products, including alcohol, have been banned in the country for the COVID-19 lockdown period, set to continue into May.

The source of the recipe is unknown so all we can say is, enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 16 Green apples
  • 2kg Brown sugar
  • 20 Five Roses tea bags
  • 20g brewers yeast
  • 20 Litres water

Instructions

  1. Boil water, sugar and tea bags
  2. Let it cool
  3. Add yeast and apples
  4. Ferment for 7 days
