How to pick the perfect party wine

When I through a big bash at my house for a bunch of friends who enjoy more than their fair share of wine, I generally look for simple, tasty wines that are both readily available and — here’s the key — inexpensive.

It’s important to select wines that will be widely popular amongst the crowd. I love Riesling, but I’ll avoid it because many people don’t love it. Then there’s the friends who only drink white and some only drink red, so it’s important to have one of each. I go for wines that simply taste good without explanation and aren’t fussy – like OBIKWA.

This quirky brand offers wide variety of easy drinking red and white wines that are so affordable that you can buy a case of each varietal without breaking the bank.

In addition to the line-up of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Moscato to entice white wine lovers, OBiKWA also offers a blushing, refreshingly dry Pinotage Rosé. Red wine lovers are also spoilt for choice with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage and the much lauded, value for money Shiraz.

If your friends are anything like mine you’ll agree that life is a journey worth celebrating and at R30 a bottle there’s no excuse not to grab some OBIKWA for your next big event.
