Backsberg Wines Get Jazz Lovers in the Swing

Backsberg Estate Cellars has once again been appointed as the official wine supplier to the public hospitality areas at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, one of the world’s leading jazz events, which will be held on 31 March and 1 April this year. Backsberg will supply a select range of wines to both the public bars and corporate hospitality suites which make up a substantial part of the Jazz Festival offering.

Simon Back, CEO of Backsberg, says that a premier world-class event such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival is a tremendous way to promote South Africa’s wines to a diverse and contemporary audience from South Africa, the rest of the continent and internationally.

“As the capital of the South African wine industry, Cape Town provides a terrific platform for promoting the country’s wine culture and introducing visitors to a product that has essentially been a part of the city and its people since 1659,” says Back.

Backsberg has had a long association with music and the arts. Besides being a regular partner of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, the winery has sponsored the Encounters Documentary Film Festival and is known for its popular picnic music concerts during the summer.

“With Backsberg’s presence at the Jazz Festival we are once again going to embrace the opportunity of reminding visitors as well as local attendees of the quality of South African wine. Wine is after all as much a part of Cape heritage as jazz, music and festivity, as those attending the Jazz Festival will find out.”

This is the 18th year that the Cape Town International Jazz Festival will enthral thousands of local and international visitors. For the full programme and further details, see http://www.capetownjazzfest.com/
