Alternatively, book ahead and join us for a specialised tasting such as the Comparative Shiraz Tasting and discover how Shiraz lends itself to expression of terroir as well as complementing other blending components. Or taste older vintages of select award-winning La Motte wines alongside current vintages and learn about the benefits of bottle ageing and maturation during the Vinoteque Tasting.

Taste the La Motte range of elegant wines, produced to express distinctive varietal character, and combining the best of what farms situated in diverse climatic regions have to offer as well as the limited volume premium La Motte Pierneef range, consisting of varietal wines and innovative blends.

Shiraz Comparative Tasting

Join us on a journey of discovery as we take a closer look at this ancient and noble variety. Taste young Shiraz from the barrel and discuss the influences that wood has on the wine before and after bottling. Sit down in the elegant private Tasting Room for a personalised tasting of various Shiraz blends, styles and vintages where the intricacies of Shiraz in South Africa and the world will be discussed. Discover how this amazing variety lends itself to expression of terroir as well as complementing other blending components. Strictly by appointment only.

Vinoteque Tasting

Explore the history and evolution of La Motte wines with this innovative and informative tasting. Taste older vintages of select award winning La Motte wines alongside current vintages and learn about the benefits of bottle ageing and maturation. Sit down in the elegant private tasting room for a personalised tasting where the history of wine-making at La Motte will be discussed in the broader context of the Franschhoek Valley and Cape wine-making region. Discover for yourself what makes La Motte internationally and locally acclaimed. Strictly by appointment only.

Hours

Mondays to Saturdays 09:00 – 17:00.
Closed on Sundays and Christian religious holidays.
Reservations for groups, themed tastings and cellar tours are essential – 8 to 16 people per tasting.
Cost R50 per person.
R60 per person when part of a group.
Themed tasting R200 per person – groups of 8 people. Reservations are essential.
Cellar tour and tasting R70 – maximum of 16 people. Reservations are essential.

Please note that the La Motte Wine Tasting Room will be closed for renovations from Monday, 13 July 2015 and will reopen on Monday, 27 July 2015. La Motte wines will be available for purchase from the Leopard’s Leap Tasting Room during this period from Tuesdays to Sundays.
