Love drinking beer but worried about the gazillion kilojoules you’re swallowing? Well here’s some good news for you…

“As young adults we were constantly told a bottle of beer had the same carbohydrate content as six slices of bread! This is simply not the case. There are fewer carbohydrates in a glass of beer than in one slice of bread,” says Somerset West-based dietician Leigh Ann Pretorius. “Beer enjoyed in moderation and, sensibly, as part of a healthy diet, is absolutely fine. It contains far less sugar and alcohol than your average cocktail,” she explains.
