Three years ago, Jägermeister  teased the release of the boozy egg, but it turned out to be one big hilarious April Fools’ Day joke. However, the very concept has had some people fantasising about such a creation ever since, so this time around they’ve quit the games and made it happen.

The eggs weigh in at 38g, two grams less than a Creme Egg, but they make up for this lack of mass with alcohol.

With only 250 Jäger eggs up for grabs, it come as no surprise.

Tim Hawley, innovation controller at Jagermeister UK, said the eggs had been introduced for all those people who had been left ‘tossing and turning’ at night, thinking about the concept.

He said: “The last three years we’ve been inundated with customers demanding the #JagerEgg, we’ve had everything from desperate direct messages to pleading phone calls.

“It’s personally kept me up at night thinking about all those people tossing and turning, dreaming of the #JagerEgg that never was – so this is for them.”
