Japanese Beer Baths Are Good For Your Health

At the Hinotani Onsen, a hot spring located within the Misugi Resort about two hours from Kyoto, Japan, a beer bath is quickly becoming one of the most popular spa activities.

The new concept combines homemade Japanese craft beer from neighboring Hinotani Brewery with hot natural spring water every thirty minutes, and the result is a hazy and foamy liquid that resembles a dark lager. Since the Ninja beer, as it is called, is made with a combination of black and sake rice, it’s darker than most beers but has a slightly sweet, yet dry flavor profile.

According to the Misugi website, the libation contains live yeast and enzymes in the malt that leave your skin feeling soft and fresh. What’s more? The carbonic acid and antibacterial properties in the hops clean your skin and can keep you healthy.
