JC Bekker takes over as CEO at Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons

JC Bekker (top image) has been appointed as the new CEO at Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons. He succeeds Schalk-Willem Joubert who recently resigned after 20 years with the company.

Bekker has 24 years’ experience in the South African wine industry having being involved at the highest levels of winery management, wine making and viticulture. Besides B.Sc Honours degrees in oenology and viticulture (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch he also holds a post graduate diploma in wine management practice from the Universities of Adelaide and Cape Town.

He spent 22 years with South African liquor company DGB where he was cellar master of the group’s flagship Boschendal winery before heading up all the extensive wine making activities within DGB.

Bekker takes up his new position on 1 June.
