How To Make A Juicy Springbok Cheeseburger

Seeing that my fridge is still full of game, I decided to experiment once again. There’s no patty like a home-made beef patty right? Wrong! Wait till you taste this juicy and saucy patty made from Springbok mince. It’s filled with flavour and the melted cheddar makes it simply irresistible.

Ingredients

For the Springbok Patties

  • 500g Springbok mince
  • chopped garlic
  • chopped spring onion
  • paprika
  • chopped red peppers
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 egg
  • breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients with hand and don’t overwork it.
  2. Divide the mix mince equally patty size (you can decide how big you want them) patties.
  3. Make a small hole in the middle of each patty.
  4. Grill the patty until the hole is fully closed – an indication that the patty is done.
  5. Just before you take it off the grill, put slice cheese on the patty just to let it melt a bit.

Decorate the bottom of a sesame bun with lettuce and place the patty with melted cheese on top.  Top with gherkins, fried onions, tomatoes and sauce of preference along with some more lettuce. Chow away and enjoy with a Pinot Noir from Galpin Peak.
