Kunjani Wines Opens New Tasting Room And Restaurant Near Stellenbosch

After years of careful planning and construction, Kunjani Wines has opened the doors of its brand new tasting facility on the Bottelary wine route outside Stellenbosch.

Designed by well-known interior designer Haldane Martin, the environment artfully mixes local wine country elements with an urban flair, showcasing modern materials and African style. The custom-made furniture is paired with selected artworks by local artists, Krisjan Rossouw and Peter Pharoah.

This is the last sofa to be manufacture by designer Haldane Martin in the iconic and rare Songololo design range. It’s inspired by nature’s creepy crawlies.

The friendly and welcoming tasting room complements what Kunjani stands for – “Hi, how are you?” – and that is exactly how great relationships start. A simple greeting and a great glass of wine between new friends.

The wine brand was conceptualised in 2011 when a chance encounter between German Entrepreneur Paul Barth and  South African Businesswoman Pia Watermeyer birthed a vision for a cross-continental wine.

The six wines in the portfolio are crafted by Pia and award-winning winemaker Carmen Stevens and the current range consist of a Sauvignon Blanc, a Chenin Blanc, a Red Blend, a dry Riesling, a Shiraz and a Pia Noir (rosé).

To go with the wines, the restaurant offers a variety of menu items, including pizzas, burgers, platters, desserts and some more refined dishes.

The prices range from R85.00 to R160.00 per dish, and wine tastings are R75.00 per person, which includes a selection of 5 wines.

In addition to the sensational wine and food experience, Kunjani also offers elegant and luxurious accommodation on the estate. The four cottages all feature a patio with breathtaking views over the winelands and Stellenbosch mountains.

Prices range from R1900.00 – R3500.00 per cottage, per night.

The Kunjani tasting room is open from Wednesdays to Sundays, 11:00 – 17:00.
