La Motte releases a new vintage of Sauvignon Blanc

Made from grapes originating from seven different winegrowing regions in the Western Cape, the 2012 La Motte Sauvignon Blanc is offering the best of all worlds.

Grapes used are from vineyards in Franschhoek (30%), Elgin (30%), Stellenbosch (20%), Elim (5%), Durbanville (5%), Darling and West Coast (5%) and Nieuwoudtville (5%) ensuring quite a varied flavour profile and definite complexity.

“Although the La Motte Sauvignon Blanc is a refreshing aperitif, it works very well with food – especially those hard to match spicy Chinese and Thai dishes”, says winemaker Edmund Terblanche.

With a hot spell in late January, the grapes from cooler areas performed better and especially the Elgin vineyards offered exceptional quality and largely contributed to the nose of strong gooseberry flavours backed up by apple, pineapple, passion-fruit and nuances of wild grass. The wine has a crisp natural acidity with the same beautifully silky and rounded palate and fresh aftertaste that has made it a favourite in previous vintages.

The 2012 La Motte Sauvignon Blanc is available at the cellar door for R64 per bottle.
