As people around the globe are confined to their homes amidst the coronavirus pandemic, The House of Angostura brings us the online #HouseLockDown series.

A daily series on at-home cocktail mixing and uplifting interviews with some of the best bartenders the world over; selected special guests and Angostura Brand Ambassadors.

As we face these uncertain times The House of Angostura aims to support both the industry and fans by bringing some colour, entertainment, new ideas and insights into their homes.

The series will be hosted live over the next three weeks by Angostura Brand Ambassador Daniyel Jones, Mondays – Fridays at 5pm from his Instagram account. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join the conversation by tuning in here.

Each day, the 20-minute programme will speak to wellness in the time of COVID-19, mixing at home with inventive cocktail recipes using what’s in your cupboard, and a Sip ’n Chill Q&A session with the featured guest.

There will also be a competition each week for any budding bartenders – whether amateur or professional – to share their cocktail making videos and stand a chance to win a 30-minute virtual Cocktail Masterclass at home hosted by an Angostura Brand Ambassador.

From a global perspective, Jones will be chatting to the likes of the latest Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge winners such as Ray Letoa (2018), Marv Cunningham (2020) and Vasile Dorofeev (Middle East and Africa regional winner 2020).

From South Africa, the series will feature Kurt Schlechter and Leighton Rathbone. Schlechter is a renowned South African bartender, industry mentor to many and owner of experimental cocktail bar Cause Effect Cocktail Kitchen and Cape Brandy Bar. And whilst Rathbone is fairly new to the mixology game he has taken to competing and recently took the title of Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge South Africa national winner 2020. Both have many insights to share on the trade as well as mixing at home.

The series, birthed in the midst of a global crisis, is intended to share hope, positivity and good vibes through the solidarity of the Angostura Family. It’s about bringing people together, sharing experiences and creating some amazing drinks.
