Magical Mozart and rare vintage red wines

Acclaimed lyric tenor, Stéfan Louw, is bringing another opera soiree to Le Canard, this time with winemaker extraordinaire, Vergenoegd’s John Faure.

After a successful launch of the first “Aria! Opera for Everyone!” soiree in June this year, enquiries have been streaming in resulting in the second soiree, which takes place on 16 July, being sold out within days.

On Saturday 20 August, starting at 7pm, Stéfan will entertain guests with the magical sounds of Mozart. Not only will he sing timeless arias such as Dies Bildniss from Die Zauberflote and Il mio Tesoro from Don Giovanni, he will also take you on an informative journey about each aria as well as Mozart’s style. Piano accompaniment is by the renowned musician Ilse Myburgh.

John Faure from award-laden Vergenoegd Wine Estate will present the wines paired to the themed multi-course choice menu, including a comparison of the Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 alongside the rare Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 with main courses. Guests will enjoy the new range of Runner Duck wine on arrival.

Combine musical magic with the awesome cuisine of Le Canard Chef Patron, Freda Appelbaum and the vintage reds of Vergenoegd wines and you have a recipe for an unforgettable night out.

Your choice: either an evening of opera with a bit of red wine, or red wine with a bit of opera.

A highly recommended evening out for both opera connoisseur and novice alike. Tickets are at R380 per person all inclusive.

Venue: Le Canard Restaurant, 163 Rivonia Road Morningside Sandton Johannesburg Gauteng South Africa
