Meet Chef Kelly-Anne Pietersen of Benguela Brasserie

Nestled on the edge of the Swartvlei Lake, Benguela Brasserie and Restaurant plays host to the exceptional Chef Kelly-Anne Pietersen. Her mouth-watering and flavoursome dishes are a highlight along the Garden Route.

After relocating from the liveliness of Somerset West to the quaint picturesque nature of the Garden Route, Kelly found a new source of inspiration for her gourmet cuisine. The uniqueness of the small countryside town, Sedgefield, is reflected in her new home style hearty dishes.

After previously being spoilt for choice with exotic & fresh ingredients Kelly has found a creative old school twist for her classical style of French dishes. By keeping things modern, fresh and consistent she has found a niche for fine cuisine in the region.

Keeping to the old school style, a classic Creme Brulee recipe is on the top of Kelly’s list of favourite dishes. Her passion for this sweet treat is mirrored in her description:

“There is nothing like a quick Creme Brulee recipe to be made and baked to perfection, topping it with a caramelized sugar then cracking the caramel to reveal the rich, creaminess of the vanilla creme brulee.”

Kelly’s passion and love for producing delectable sweet treats originated from her time spent in the kitchen with her mother and grandmother. This family tradition of superb cooking has inspired her to create flavoursome traditional dishes with an inventive twist.

With scrumptiously appetizing menus, Benguela Brasserie and Restaurant at Lakeside Lodge & Spa is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway in the heart of the scenic Garden Route.
