Continuing their first royal tour as a couple, Meghan and Harry were warmly welcomed into Fiji, with the Duchess stunning the crowd by wearing a gorgeous, pearl white Zimmermann dress.

But despite the celebrations being in full swing, the Duke and Duchess found a clever way to avoid drinking any alcohol.

Having announced Meghan’s pregnancy at the start of the royal tour, it’s understandable that the royals would avoid drinking alcohol during the 16-day trip. When it came to the evening’s toast at the state dinner held in their honor, Meghan and Harry switched out their champagne for water.

However, earlier in the day, Prince Harry apparently had the chance to sample some kava, which is the national drink of Fiji. According to royal reporter Chris Ship, who shared some photos of the delicacy, “Prince Harry drinks some ‘grog’ called kava at the welcome ceremony in Fiji tonight. Pregnant Meghan didn’t. Perhaps just as well as it’s mildly narcotic. (Earlier I drank two cups in a village we filmed at—it tastes better than it looks!!)”
