Nederburg, One Of SA’s Top-performers At London’s Iwsc Event

Nederburg has been shortlisted for the title of the most successful South African producer at this year’s International Wine & Spirit Competition in London, winning one gold outstanding, two gold and a slew of silver outstanding medals.

The gold outstanding, the competition’s highest honour, went to Nederburg’s 2010 vintage of Edelkeur, the celebrated noble late harvest wine that is sold exclusively on the annual Nederburg Auction.

The golds went to another exclusive auction wine, the naturally sweet Eminence, from the 2011 vintage, and also to the 2013 The Young Airhawk, a partially wooded Sauvignon blanc that forms part of the Heritage Heroes gourmet collection.

There were also nine silver outstanding medals awarded to Nederburg. Three of these went to wines in the Heritage Heroes line-up: the 2013 and 2014 vintages of the partially wooded Chenin blanc, The Anchorman; as well as to the 2013 The Beautiful Lady, a Gewürztraminer. The 2013 Winemaster’s Reserve Noble Late Harvest also scored a silver outstanding, along with the 2010 II Centuries Cabernet Sauvignon, a multiple award-winner made from individually selected vines. So did four exclusive auction wines: the 2010 Eminence, 2011 Edelkeur, the 2012 Private Bin D270 Chardonnay and the 2011 Private Bin R163 Cabernet Sauvignon. Nederburg is South Africa’s most awarded winery.
