Nederburg`s Golden Spring Shower at Veritas 2014

Nederburg was showered in accolades at the 2014 Veritas Awards, winning six double gold and nine gold medals across its multi-tiered range, once again affirming its position as a top performer in the competition.

Although wines made for the Nederburg Auction dominated the line-up, two Heritage Heroes wines were also amongst those honoured, as were several Winemaster’s Reserve dessert wines.

The winery’s gourmet Heritage Heroes collection launched in 2012 offers contemporary styled specialty handmade wines at accessible prices. They have elicited widespread praise from critics and wine lovers. The double gold awarded to The Young Airhawk 2013, a wooded Sauvignon blanc; and a gold to The Beautiful Lady 2013, a very aromatic Gewürztraminer, show shoppers that these favourites have the backing of a highly respected international judging panel.

The Winemaster’s Reserve Noble Late Harvest 2012, another widely decorated wine that also carries a Platter’s South African Wine Guide five-star rating, took gold, as did the 2013 vintage of the Winemaster’s Reserve Special Late Harvest.

All other double gold medallists were Private Bin wines made for the Nederburg Auction: R163 Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 and R181 Merlot 2009, the 2003 and 2006 vintages of Edelkeur and the 1964 Port made by Günter Brözel, available in very limited quantities on the auction exclusively.

Nederburg’s unassailable ability to dazzle with its dessert wines was also clearly evident amongst the gold medallists, with the 2009, 2010 and 2012 vintages of Eminence and the 1979, 2005 and 2011 vintages of Edelkeur on the list. The remaining gold went to the Private Bin Grenache 2009.

Nederburg also won 17 silvers.
