Northern Cape Premier Spent R759 per Day On Fast-Food

In her first ten weeks in office, the Northern Cape Premier, Sylvia Lucas, used her official credit card  to buy fast food (from KFC and Spur) to the value of R53 159.

That’s R759 every day for 10 weeks or

  • 19 Burger, chips and cold drink meals every day or
  • 30 2-piece chicken meals with chips every day or
  • 89 bottles of energy drinks every day (she admits to being fond of these) or
  • 29 bottles of Tassies every day (if you are more liquid fast-food inclined)

According to the Sunday Times, she spent R11 956 on food in Kimberley, where she lives in the official premier’s residence, in August. Between July 16 and August 2, Lucas spent more than R2000 at her local SuperSpar, the Sunday Times reported.
