Organic food is not a healthier option

Plumping for organic food for the sake of your health may be a false bet, according to new research.

Experts at Standford University have revealed that their research shows little evidence of any health benefits of organic compared to standard non-organic diets.

“There isn’t much difference between organic and conventional foods, if you’re an adult and making a decision based solely on your health,” said Dena Bravata, MD, MS, the senior author of the study.

Organic foods have for some years been considered the healthier option, with many people keen to avoid pesticides and other farming chemicals used to ensure a healthy crop. But this isn’t the first time doubt has been cast on the assumption. In 2009 the Food Standards Agency concluded that there was no added nutritional benefit to organic foods.
