Painted Wolf Wines raises R90 000 for The Tusk Trust

Painted Wolf Wines and winemaker Jeremy Borg recently raised £4352 (R90000) for The Tusk Trust. In a three week event called “A Celebration of Painted Wolves”, Jeremy rode approximately 900miles between Cornwall and Edinburgh holding charity wine tastings at a number of locations on route. We are thrilled to report that £1440 was raised through these tastings with a further £2908 raised through an auction of wild dog art. The auction offered work generously donated by a selection of accomplished artists and photographers including Kim Wolhuter, Nick Mackman (David Shepherd wild life artist of the year 2015), Lin Barrie and Greg Du Toit. Most of the art sold went to homes in the United Kingdom, with a few pieces being successfully won by wild dog fans in the Netherlands, the USA and Canada.

Tusk has earmarked the funds raised for Wild Dog conservation projects in Zimbabwe and Botswana they currently support.

Painted Wolf Wines makes a contribution from each bottle of wine sold to a variety of conservation charities such as The Endangered Wildlife trust, Children in the Wilderness and The Tusk Trust. Funds from sales and other ad hoc donations, add up to between 4 and 5 percent of annual turnover. A Celebration of Painted Wolves was not part of this percentage, and therefore adds additional much needed funds to the conservation of our favourite endangered carnivore.

Winemaker Jeremy Borg, a dedicated conservationist and keen adventure cyclist, started PEDALS 4 PAWS in 2012 to fund endangered carnivore conservation. A number of rides have been completed through wild areas of Southern Africa- the most recent being an 800km ride through the bush in Zimbabwe. In addition Pedals 4 Paws supports rural primary school children by collecting and distributing school materials to impoverished children in conservation areas.

Team work, focus and persistence of Painted Wolves provide a perfect metaphor for cross country cycling .
