Opening of Parliament Party costs tax payers R3.7 million

Members of parliament partied up a storm on Valentine’s evening, costing tax payers R3.7 million.

According to a report in Rapport, 1 000 guests – with the likes if pres. Jacob Zuma and his wife Sizakele Khumalo, DA-leader Helen Zille, premiers, international guests and members from all the parties in parliament  – got treated to a stylish affair at the CTICC in Cape Town after the state of the nation address.

A couple of LP’s boycotted the after party due to its flashy nature, saying it’s ridiculous that Government waste money while  our country struggles with unemployment and tough economical times.

For starters guests enjoyed a Mediterranean salad, followed by beef fillet and lamb chops with mash potatoes and vegetables. Dessert consisted out of Blackberry Cheese Cake served with fruit.

Wines from Backsberg decorated the tables and stronger liquor was available for free at the bar.
