John has teamed up with Mike Israel of Pomegranate, merging their passion for food and wine. On Wednesday, 27 July 2011 at 19h00, John Faure will host a gourmet dinner at the Pomegranate restaurant on the Vergenoegd Wine Estate.

At R295 a head, the five course dinner gives you the opportunity to engage you’re senses in their passion for food and wine. The menu reads as follows:

On Arrival: Selected amuse guile served with Vergenoegd Runner Duck Rosé

1st Course: Oxtail braised in red wine, off the bone, served on a sweet crust pastry, garnished with a fried Quail egg and truffle chips.  Vergenoegd (Flagship)2003

2nd Course: Norwegian salmon, seared wrapped in Nori, served on a warm herb lentil and yoghurt salad.  Vergenoegd Shiraz 2003

3rd Course: Charred Eland loin, rolled in liquorices dust, served on sweet and tangy couscous and finished with a Amarulla jus.  Vergenoegd Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

4th Course: White chocolate pancake, stuffed with marsh mellow and raspberries with a Chantilly cream.   Vergenoegd Merlot 2004

5th Course: Confit duck rillette, served on green apple with brandy roasted figs.  Vergenoegd Tawny Port (Limited addition)
