Pierneef à La Motte introduces fresh and seasonal early summer menu

Although a late winter has urged us to serve warming soups, hearty meals and creamy and comforting desserts, we are almost at the end of September and our wonderful vegetable and herb garden has braved the stormy weather to supply us with the fantastic fresh ingredients of spring – ingredients so full of flavour and crunch that it is impossible not to use them and introduce our early summer menu.

Pierneef à La Motte offers a variety of dining options – from relaxed lunches to fine-dining menu’s, from alfresco meals under the oak trees to formal dinners. And for the early summer menu the variety is just as wide.

Try the Spring vegetable salad to stay in touch with the season or enjoy fresh garden peas incorporated into a black truffle and parmesan risotto. Enjoy a Cape seafood soup or  Pickled ox tongue with mustard-glazed carrots, quail eggs and a caper and raisin vinaigrette or the Terrine of free-range chicken with smoked warthog and mushroom, yoghurt blanc mange, warthog bacon crunch, onion and thyme marmalade for something lighter. And if you need a comforting meal, opt for Slow-braised smoked pork with mushroom croissant toast, creamed mushrooms, apple and Gruyère-flavoured milk or the Steamed venison shin dumplings with parsnip purée and cameline jus.

Desserts varies from Summer berries with cheese cake, meringue and jelly, to an old fashioned Dessert nostalgia with roly poly re-invented or decadent Textures of chocolate with cacao custard, mud pie and brownie ice cream. For a wonderful combination of textures and tastes, try the Pistachio waffle with sun-dried golden raisins and cocoa nib parfait.
