Platinum for De Krans at Michelangelo

So far its been a sparkling awards season for De Krans Wines, with more accolades to add to its lengthy list. The latest in the line-up being the 2019 Muscat de Frontignan, which received a Platinum Award at the 2019 Michelangelo International Wine Awards. The awards took place on 4 October at a special gala event in Cape Town. To have earned this prestigious Platinum medal, this wine had to be considered a world-class creation by the panel with a minimum of 96 points out of a possible 100 points. There were only 14 wines from more than 2 000 wines entered that won Platinum at this competition this year.

A lush golden yellow colour with hints of green, the Muscat de Frontignan displays typical Muscat flavours on the nose with an abundance of fresh ripe fruit such as peach, litchis and Spring blossoms. On the palate the wine delivers a sweet but fresh finish with an explosion of Muscat flavours in the mouth. This results in a wine with perfect balance, integrated acidity and alcohol. Perfect on its own served ice-cold, or with dessert, nuts and dried fruit. Available off the farm at only at R95 per bottle, this award-winning wine will no doubt make for interesting conversation at your next social gathering.

Since its inception the Michelangelo International Wine Awards has differentiated itself from other competitions in using a judging panel comprising a majority of international wine and spirits experts. For this year’s judging, 30 judges representing 22 countries were called upon to score the more than 2 000 entries received.
