Four of the current Bouchard Finlayson wines are already vegan-friendly, with the intention to produce only vegan-friendly wines in future, in line with its ethos as a WWF Conservation Champion to protect animals, conserve natural resources and reduce carbon footprint.

In celebration of the arts in South Africa and the 2020 Hermanus FynArts Festival, in particular, Bouchard Finlayson has announced its sponsorship of the Tollman Bouchard Finlayson Art Award for the seventh consecutive year. This prestigious national art competition will carry a significant prize value of R45 000 in 2020, which will be allocated at the judges’ discretion.

Bouchard Finlayson has released the latest vintage of its flagship Chardonnay – the 2017 Missionvale. Chardonnay is seeing a resurgence in the international consumer market where the new world Chardonnays are generally known for their buttery oak flavours.

Bouchard Finlayson is gearing up for the summer festive season with a range of experiences on offer to guests visiting the wine estate outside Hermanus. Activities include Guided Nature Walks led by the legendary Frank Woodvine, Bouchard Finlayson’s resident amateur botanist.

Hannibal, Bouchard Finlayson’s iconic Italian red blend, created a stir when Peter Finlayson released the first vintage 18 years ago. Today, with Chris Albrecht as winemaker at the helm, Hannibal is as consistent and popular as ever, with the newly released 2017 vintage expected to be another best seller within the Bouchard Finlayson stable.

Magic is a difficult thing to define. It’s a feeling that runs up your spine and all your senses light up; scents become keener, your eyes open wider. Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve is a place drenched in the stuff, from the bowl of sky above, cut at night with crystal stars, to the silent and stoic sandstone rock formations of the surrounding Cederberg.

Chef Christo Pretorius from The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa Azure Restaurant shares his Beef Picanha recipe, which is best enjoyed with a glass of Bouchard Finlayon’s unique red blend, Hannibal. The 2016 vintage is a blend of Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo, Shiraz, Mourvédre and Barbera and is alive with a characteristic Italian mouthfeel reflecting fruity complexity. Olive and red currant flavours combine with cranberry to result in a lingering finish and complex mouthfeel.

In the heart of the Cederberg at sister property Bushman Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat, Executive Chef Charles Hayward has paired locally sourced Springbok Loin with Bouchard Finlayson’s renowned 2017 Galpin Peak Pinot Noir. A wine that is deep in colour with a refined mouthfeel that highlights a compilation of sour cherry and violets.
