Members of Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens, near Horsham in West Sussex, picked grapes and enjoyed lunch on October 9th 2020 to celebrate the first harvest of the vineyard planted on the Grade I Listed gardens estate, owned by entrepreneur Penny Streeter OBE since 2017.


Benguela Cove Lagoon wine estate has won four gold medals, including one double gold in the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards. Now in its 24th year, the South African competition has judges representing all seven continents.


Following the success of the maiden release 2017 vintage, the recently released Benguela Cove Catalina Sémillon 2018 is following in the tracks of its predecessor.

At the 2020 Wine and Food Tourism Awards in September, Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate was recognised as one of South Africa’s top three honourees in the Innovation category. Situated at the gateway to the Walker Bay wine region outside Hermanus, the estate is an hour’s drive from Cape Town International airport.

The South African 2020 vintage was collectively celebrated at the SA Champion Young Wine awards on October 29th – the188th year of the event, the oldest of its kind in the world.
