It gives us great pleasure to share with you new developments in our Robertson Wine Valley Association, even as we update you on a temporary closure starting on 1 July 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to close our doors until further notice, but we will be using this time to forge ahead with current plans of integration with tourism involving all five Langeberg towns.

Meet the champion! Rietvallei JMB Chardonnay 2019 has been voted one of the best in the world, the only South African entrant to achieve this spectacular honour. When the Chardonnay du Monde International competition released results of their 2020 contest last week, Rietvallei’s Chardonnay from their Heritage Collection not only attracted Gold – the only South African wine to do so – but was placed in the Top 10 best Chardonnays of the World, 2020.

Love is in the air in Robertson wine valley!

The number of Double Golds awarded to Robertson Wine Valley members has risen from one last year to an impressive five in 2019. Overall our producers brought home an inspiring 100-plus total of medals this year, ample proof, should we need it, of just how highly their wines are rated blindly by panels of local and international judges.

The waiting is over, the results are out, and Robertson Wine Valley members  have, once again, brought home an impressive number and range of awards from the 2019  Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.

The prestigious SA Young Wine Show, dating back to 1833, showcases the best wines of a current vintage. 186 wines were entered from the Robertson Wine Valley for their regional Young Wine Show. The winners were announced on Thursday, 15 August, at the astonishing Lord’s Wines venue proudly sponsored by JF Hillebrand. Local wine producers from the valley entered and received amazing results with 7 gold, 88 silver and 45 bronze. With 45 class winners.

There are numerous vinous stars in the valley celebrating their success in the 2019 Novare SA Terroir Wine Awards, but one estate stands out bigger and brighter than its colleagues, so let’s start with a round of prolonged applause for Bon Courage. While the winery is no stranger to recognition of its renowned and prolific ranges, this year saw three of its wines voted as National Winners, several more scoring as Area Winners, and the total combination contributing to Bon Courage collecting both the trophy for Top Wine Estate and Top Terroir Producer.
