Theuniskraal, one of Tulbagh’s best-known wine farms and one of South Africa’s very first white-wine estates; has a history as interesting, and as old, as the village itself. 

 

Theuniskraal Wine Estate, South Africa’s very first white wine estate, played host to the Absa Cape Epic Mountain Bike Race on 20 March 2013.

Theuniskraal has been in the Jordaan family since 1927 and winemaker.

 

Theuniskraal is situated  in Tulbagh and was originally the first estate to produce white wine in South Africa. It received its name in 1705 when the land was owned by Theunis Bergenarie.

 

In the early 1700’s, Theunis Bevernagie settled in a fertile valley guarded by the towering Witzenberg and Winterhoek

 

This wine is  so easy to drink, it’s impossible to stop drinking it.
